Many, like me, that’s invested in PKMs and notetaking, are starting to have problems with Personal Knowledge Management, As Elizabeth Butler talks about in an article on her blog.

Like me, she’s pointing out that there are a lot of new notetaking apps that say they will solve it all and that “Complexity for its own sake” is a rule of thumb for both methodology and building of PKMs.

As many of you know, the past year has been when I started asking myself what I would like my new PKm to look like. The conclusion isn’t nearer now; I can tell you, no matter how hard I think about it, I build something and find a(new?) methodology. I stumble and fall on the finishing line.

What I know is the following:

  • We must question how, why, and for whom we're building a Pkm.
  • Is it even necessary to have a PKM built in a special way (zettlekasten, Second Brain, LYT)
  • And so much more…

Stuck in a loop as it feels, I try to swim to the surface and gasp for air.

I’m not there yet, but….

One thing is for sure:

PKM’s Is Here, But To Stay?
