Writing Is Hard Work
Many of my shipmates have realized now that writing can be hard work. No, it is hard work; I’m not kidding. You have to be consistent and use your sacred hours, mine are in the mornings between six and eight AM.
Writing Every Day
You need to write every day. It’s no different from any professional, like a musician or a sportsperson. You train your flow, voice, and way of expressing yourself in words. And if that’s not enough, you’ll have to trust your instincts (Or is it your gut, heart?) on what other people would like to read.
Find Your Flow
Your flow is your fortune that you tap into to get your writing to fly, your spirit animal if you want. Finding what triggers that flow is one of the first things a writer should do and discover. It’s not always obvious what triggers my writing, but a great deal comes from my idea factory.
Build An Idea factory
So building your idea factory should be one of the first things you should create; how and what you call it isn’t essential. Some call it their second brain, others their Personal Knowledge Management. I call mine my cowriter. Maybe it’s a stupid name you’re thinking, but that’s how I see it. And my cowriter is where I get impulses, ideas, and store research for my articles.
My Three Pieces Of Advice
- Find your flow, and the rest will follow.
- Build your idea factory.
- And write, write, write, and right, WRITE SOME MORE!
